tention to Nate and me. “Just try to see Nathans future

dear, and then we can see if the crystal ball is broken

or not.”

I nodded but my hands were shaking, and I had a

strange feeling that something was very wrong. Dark-

ness didn’t mean nothing, it meant something, and

judging from Ing’s reaction it couldn’t be good.

“Hey, are you OK?” Nate asked me and covered one of

my hands with his.

I almost jumped out of my chair at his touch, but then

I relaxed and looked at him. “Yeah,” I said. “Just a little

shaken...”

“I’m sure it’s nothing. Probably just the crystal ball,

mine will undoubtedly also just show darkness, and

then we know for sure,” he said trying to cheer me up

and gave my hand a squeeze.

I smiled at him, hoping that he was right, but I couldn’t

shake the feeling that something was off. Whatever it

meant; then having the crystal ball show only darkness

as my future couldn’t be a good sign, and I was scared.

Nate released my hand and held his just above the crys-

tal ball. “Are you ready?”

I straightened in my chair and looked at him, then I

nodded and turned my attention to the crystal ball.

He carefully placed his hands on the crystal ball, and

immediately images started to flicker across the sur-

face.

My heart dropped. This meant that the crystal ball

wasn’t broken - my future was.

I shook my head and tried to focus on Nate’s future.

I saw him running around trying to catch something

that looked like a small troll in a big garden. He jumped

to grab it, but it was too fast, and he ended up in the

mud. I smiled and had to bite my lip to keep from laugh-

ing. Then the image flickered, and I saw him standing,

talking to some guy. There was nothing special about

the scene, at least not when I couldn’t hear what they

were saying.

They were standing it Nate’s and my room, but it looked

messier, and all three beds were in use. Perhaps this

person was going to be our new roommate? I looked at

him, and I must admit that he was very attractive, but

still I didn’t love the idea of living in the same room

as two boys and judging from the mess, I probably

wouldn’t like it that much. The guy conjured a fireball

in his hand showing it to Nate. Nate held up his hand

and then he did the same.

“Hey, you are going to get a power,” I said.

“What? What are you seeing? What power will I get?”

Nate tilted his head to try to see, but I knew that he

couldn’t see anything.

I held up my hand, indicating that he should be quite.

I focused my attention back to the crystal.

Now it showed Nate and me standing in a room that

I didn’t know. It looked as if I had been crying, and

I seemed to be yelling at Nate. Both of us looked dif-

ferent, and I wondered how far into the future this

was. Nate took me into his arms and held me as I cried.

What the hell happened? I turned my head up and kissed him.
